MY TAKE:

I've always been fascinated by the 'doomsday' what if kind of story line. We all know the scriptures give signs that will foreshadow the event, but no one can say Exactly how it will happen. I think that's what gives this book so much impact and intrigue. It's a hot topic and one a lot of people are considering. I really respect how the authors handled the subject. They put an immense amount of research into the Mayan culture and the doomsdayers theories, and handled it evenly, presenting both sides clearly. I was pleased with how they chose to end it as well. Can we truly say that Dec 21, 2012 will have no impact? I think the answer is no - we wait and see. A lot can happen and change in the next 14 months. On the other hand, even if it bears no importance at all, shouldn't we already be living our lives as if that day of judgement and tribulation could come at any moment?

They presented a very informative, compelling and exciting novel. One that makes you think while holding your breath at the same time. A definite recommend for reading.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

On the heels of Mark Hitchcock’s prophecy bestseller 2012, the Bible, and the End of the World comes a suspenseful novel (coauthored with bestselling novelist Alton Gansky) about the supposed expiration date of planet earth—December 21, 2012.

Andrew Morgan is a wealthy oil executive in search of the meaning of life. In his quest for answers he encounters the ancient Mayan predictions that the world will end in 2012. That the claims seem supported by math and astronomy drives him to check on them. Then he meets Lisa Campbell, an attractive Christian journalist also researching the Mayan calendar. When he learns that she is a Christian, he quickly dismisses what she has to say.

As the time draws closer to December 21, 2012, a meteorite impact in Arizona, a volcanic eruption, and the threat of an asteroid on a collision-course with earth escalate fears. Are these indicators of a global apocalypse? Will anyone survive? Does Lisa’s Christian faith have the answers after all? Or has fate destined everyone to a holocaust from which there is no escape?
