NEW RELEASE! Get Aspects of Faith FREE!

NEW RELEASE!

Aspects of Faith is now available at amazon.com. To celebrate the release of this new study guide, I'm offering the ebook for FREE on Amazon. Follow the link to get your copy and please share with your friends and family. Hurry, it's only available October 23rd-27th.

“Faith is one of the most basic acts of being a follower of Jesus Christ. It’s faith that Jesus is the Son of God who sacrificed himself on a cross and defeated death and sin to rise again so that we could be free, that brings us to commit our lives to Him. I would even say it ’s the first step, because how can you come unto him and repent, if you don’t already have faith to believe He’s real?

Faith doesn’t stop there. Once we make that covenant, then our faith has to continue to grow and become active. It’s that type of faith that I think many of us struggle with the most. I certainly do and I know I’m not alone. It’s not something we often talk about as a group of believers, but maybe we should.

Why, if we have faith in who Jesus is, do we also struggle to have faith in what Jesus will do? Sure, He died for my sins, but can or will He really heal me? Or help me overcome my financial/personal/emotional struggles?

Personal faith in the divine is what I wanted to understand deeper. To go beyond the general or even abstract definition and understand the basic steps that build personal faith. I invite you to join me on my journey to learn the many aspects of faith.”

Enjoy and God bless!

Solstice Publishing: Stories of Faith that Will Touch Your Soul

Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ; a renewal of the faith so many hold so close. Those who believe take the time to reflect on their blessings and honor their Lord. These stories show faith tested and renewed during this special season. Will they hold dear to that faith or stumble?

Old friends… New danger

Pioneer Easter, new beginnings

A Heaven sent smile to believe

Bereft of faith Anton returns home

The Story of Faith and Courage

Some things can be changed

Will Melinda discover her inner strength?

Faith tested and renewed in many different ways. An abandoned child; two people must trust all will turn out right. A family moving west following bigotry. Hope lost; a yearning to believe. A return home to discover faith. Faith and renewal versus loss and grief. Her rocky path leads her home. A teen struggles for answers.

April Erwin, Eden S. Clark, Donna Patton, E.B. Sullivan, J.E. & Carla Holling and Jeannie Anderson, Leah Hamrick, and K.C. Sprayberry present stories of strength and hope, of struggle and desolation, of returning to what has always sustained them.

BONUS!

As an extra special added bonus, we also present Notes On A Cowslip Flower by Solstice Publishing author Chrystal Vaughan.

Where do you put your faith?

When ChrissyBell loses the only father she has ever known, will his teachings and faith sustain her? Childhood can be such a confusing time, especially when your biological father is absent. Christina (ChrissyBell to her closest friend) never knew hers, but Universe sent a replacement in the form of Indian Jim, who taught her the ways of his people. Her life path, and spirituality, were written in the lines of his hands and the words on the petals of flowers.

New Release! Justice Redeemed by April Erwin

Good news! A new Heroes in Justice short story is releasing on March 31, 2017! Justice Redeemed is releasing initially as part of A Renewal of Faith vol. 1, a collection of faith renewing short stories published by Solstice Publishing. (It will release as a single at a later date.)

I'm so excited to share this story with you. Carl is a Justice Fire Department paramedic. (He was briefly mentioned in Justice Burning, book 1.) Carl lived a complicated life until he met Jesus and made a covenant with his Savior. Now, just as life is going so well, a chapter from his past has returned to turn his life upside down.

Alison and Carl's relationship and personal journeys were so important to me to share. It's easy to point to Carl as the Hero in this story, but I love that the title Hero can be shared with Alison as well. She's a different type of hero, but just as important. I think that's true of all the stories in the series so far. Aidan and Morgan in Justice Burning, Cam and Trix in A Volunteer Christmas, and Keegan and Emily in The Power of Love. Each show that being a hero comes in many forms and identities. It's a matter of asking God, "What's your plan for me? How can I serve you in the lives of those around me?" Just be prepared - the answer is often not what you anticipated! LOL.

That is where the adventure and suspense comes in. It's exciting, a bit scary, and completely eye opening. I hope that as you read Justice Redeemed and the other books in the Heroes in Justice series, you find a reflection of that journey with the Savior.

Be sure to check out all the inspiring stories this Easter. Available March 31, 2017 at Amazon.com.

Happy Birthday, Kianna Ravencamp!

Kianna Ravencamp is celebrating her birthday today! Hooray! Birthday's are kind of a big deal for Kianna, her 26th especially made her put life in perspective.

Kianna is a character near and dear to my heart. I always find ways to identify with my characters (even the not so nice ones), it makes them come alive in my mind. For me, though, Kianna has become bigger than a character come to life. She's a friend and I often find myself wondering how she would think of feel about something.

Does that make you laugh? At times it makes me laugh. In the beginning, when I first started writing Kee's story, I built her character loosely on my own experiences. As time went by and her story grew, Kianna took on a new life, becoming her own person. Sure, Kee and I share common interests and ideals, but she's so much more now than paper and ink. I don't see her as me in costume. She's Kianna - aspiring songwriter reaching for dreams, success and love. Her knees may be knocking, but faith in Jesus grants her courage to be bold.

If anything, she's sometimes the me I wish I could be. Then I remember the mistakes Kianna sometimes makes and I realize that as silly as it sounds, she's "human" too. Each of us reaching for our own dreams, our own success and our own experiences in love and family. Really, she and I have one inescapable, undoubted thing that we share completely - our love and trust in Jesus.

So real or not, Happy Birthday, Kianna, my friend. Thanks for letting me share your story. I look forward to sharing more. (yes....that is a hint. )

“I’m twenty-six and I’ve never been kissed.” Staring into the bathroom mirror while making this brilliant comment is supposed to make it feel real. It doesn’t.

Finding true love these days feels impossible to Kianna Ravencamp. Only dysfunction surrounds her. Her sister is married to an abusive husband and marriages she has admired for years are falling apart. Maybe relationships like her parents’ don’t exist anymore. She dreams of true love and a family, but she’s never even been kissed.

For her birthday, her best friend gives her a journal and dares her to follow her dream of songwriting and vocal lessons quickly follow. Kianna’s finally dared to dream big…if the three men in her life don’t get in her way.

Nick Steele, her new vocal partner is flirtatious and charming. Derek Simpson, the new vocal coach is asking her out for coffee. Even Jason Payne, a childhood friend is acting odd. For the first time in her life, she will have to navigate dating and flirtation. Will her inexperience be her downfall? How will these relationships affect her songwriting career? Letting go and trusting God is the only answer that brings the path to real love and success.

 What others have to say:

By

This review is from: Dysfunction Junction (Kindle Edition)

Kianna Ravencamp loves her job-manager of a book store. For a time it allows her to don her Fairy Princess Hat and dive into reading tales of magic and love to her youngest customers.

This is a story rich with the kind of romance we don't always see, but its always been there. To find it requires reaching beyond the comforts we all must extend our hands, minds, and sometimes, bodies past in order to find the precipice to make the free-fall dive from.

It's also a story resplendent with the soul's affirmation of love and trust in one's God.

DYSFUNCTION JUNCTION is a recent P&E 2013 Readers Poll Award winner, and rightly so.

Therefore I can do nothing less than also award this book MY highest accolades...and that's FIVE STARS.

Well Done Ms. Erwin.

A must read for Christian chic-lit fans., February 2, 2014

Sariah L. Frye (Independence, MO, US)

This review is from: Dysfunction Junction (Kindle Edition)

Reading Kianna's story was like watching a TV show about my home town. April has perfectly captured what life can be like in Independence, MO. From the problems her characters face to the details about every day life, I was amazed at how real the story felt. I could see her characters so vividly and felt what they were feeling so strongly that I caught myself laughing at loud at times and at others crying for their pain. Kianna's struggles include dealing with well meaning church people who don't know how to mind their own business to personal insecurities about her size, talents and self worth to domestic violence in her own family. Her journey is full of stumbling blocks and obstacles, some that she overcomes and some that set her back, but she never quits and in the end, her faith in God helps her remain strong and see the path she should take.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about the every day struggle of living your life to honor God's glory. I look forward to the next installment of the Dream Big series.

This review is from: Dysfunction Junction (Kindle Edition)

Once again April Erwin has done it again with a thoroughly engaging read with characters so enjoyable and realistic that they draw you in,making you sad when you are finished and making you greatly anticipate her next book!

Kianna Ravencamp is 26 and has never been kissed.Although she yearns to find someone to love and be loved by, she is surrounded by dysfunctional and failed marriages, making her wonder if the marriage her parent's have is something that is obsolete. When Kianna is given a journal for her birthday and is encouraged by her friend to dream big and fulfill her lifelong dream of taking voice lessons and make a recording she does not imagine it will change her life so drastically. Now Kianna goes from being 26 and never kissed to have 3 guys interested in her. What is she to make of her handsome singing partner Nick's flirtatious attitude, her vocal coach interest in her or her dear friend childhood friend Jason acting odd around her? Whatever is going on in Kianna life she quickly finds that God is taking her in paths she did not imagine and He has a plan for her life.

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good Christian book with wonderful characters who you can relate to and a great content that really causes you to reflect on God's workings in your own life.

THANK YOU! You all are amazing and I'm so happy to have the support and love that you give. God Bless!

National Prince Day 7 - Shakespeare's Princes

#NationalPrinceWeek has been a lot of fun, but today is the last day. I've loved having the cast of  Dysfunction Junction here to host. But for the last day, I'm taking over and sharing a few Shakespearean princes that should be on our list.

I've loved Shakespeare from the moment I cracked Romeo and Juliet open (along with Julius Caesar, I read both at the same time.) From there I was sucked in to all the comedies and many of the dramas. There is plenty of Royalty and Princes in Shakespeare's plays, but if I had to choose a favorite in each category, they would be:

Hamlet
"To be, or not to be: that is the question." - Hamlet

and

Much Ado About Nothing

DON PEDRO Come, lady, come; you have lost the heart of Signior Benedick.
BEATRICE Indeed, my lord, he lent it me awhile; and I gave him use for it, a double heart for his single one: marry, once before he won it of me with false dice, therefore your grace may well say I have lost it.
DON PEDRO You have put him down, lady, you have put him down.
BEATRICE So I would not he should do me, my lord, lest I should prove the mother of fools.

Hamlet especially  has had numerous adaptations to film, but thankfully most were worth watching. :)

SO for today's princes I'm showcasing a few of Hollywood's versions.

Kenneth Branagh as Hamlet

Kenneth Branagh and Kate Winslet as Hamlet and Ophelia
Mel Gibson as Hamlet

Mel Gibson and Helena Bonham Carter as Hamlet and Ophelia
Denzel Washington as Don Pedro, Prince of Arragon in Much Ado About Nothing

Denzel Washington and Robert Sean Leonard as Don Pedro and Count Claudio

Keanu Reeves as Don John in Much Ado About Nothing

L-R: Don John, Don Pedro, Beatrice, Benedick, Hero and Claudio of Much Ado About Nothing

Do you have a favorite Shakespeare play or prince? Movie version? Let me know. Just for the fun of it, here's a 7 question quiz that tells you

I am Rosalind of As You Like It. She doesn't get a prince, but she does get a Duke. Will you be royal? Marry a royal? Or be a crazy? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks again for being a part of this weeks activities, I hope you had as much fun as I did. And for those still waiting, take Kianna's advice and be patient, Someday Your Prince Will Come. :)
