"She was probably a political science major, pre-law, trying for one more impresive entry on her resume before she sent off her application to Georgetown or UVA. Not Harvard- definitely not Harvard-at least that's what she probably told the guy who hired her, since this was the office of the senior senator from Virginia, and a man with the deep roots of John Henry Braden wouldn't want a Virginia malcontent on his staff."

Great novel by the way. Click HERE to see my original post and review.

CFBA: Less Than Dead by Tim Downs

Song Stuck on the Brain: A Place in Time (the theme from The 4400. I so miss that show. )

This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing:

Less Than Dead

by

Tim Downs
Thomas Nelson (September 9, 2008)

MY TAKE:

I loved, loved, loved this book! Once I got started, I couldn't put it down. It has great characterization. Nick Polchak is the kind of character that you can relate to. Or at least I could. My inner nerd loved that he was confident in who he was, despite his lack of hunky good looks. A bug man that preferred creepy crawlys over humans - most of the time. :) The Witch of Endor easily became a fav as well. I kind of half expected a Bones kind of book, something like Kathy Reichs would write, but Tim Downs is definitely his own man, and I'm super happy about that. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Some secrets just won't stay buried.
When strange bones surface on a U.S. senator's property, the FBI enlists forensic entomologist Nick Polchak to investigate the forgotten graveyard. Polchak's orders are simple: figure out the mess.

But Polchak, known as the "Bug Man" because of his knowledge of insects and their interaction with the dead, senses darker secrets buried beneath the soil.

Secrets that could derail the senator's presidential bid.

Secrets buried in the history of a quaint Virginia town.

Secrets someone is willing to kill to protect.

With the help of a mysterious local woman named Alena and her uncanny cadaver dogs, Polchak sets out to dig up the truth.

But with a desperate killer hot on his trail, he'll be lucky to wind up anything less than dead.
