National Prince Week Day 2 - Prince William and More

Welcome back to #NationalPrinceWeek! 

This week the cast of #DysfunctionJunction will be sharing all their favorite Prince related novels, movies and more. You don't want to miss a minute of this week long event. 

I have Kianna Ravencamp here along with her best friend's Rissa, Alexa and Hope. Kianna, why don't you and the girls tell us the feature for today?

Kianna: I'd love to. The girls and I have been chatting for a while over who would be the best 
#PrinceCharming to sweep us off our feet. Wouldn't you know we all have a different idea? I guess that's okay, as long as our prince finally comes. Sometimes I'm not sure that will ever happen, but a girl has dreams. 

My favorite go to Prince, based on personality, temperament and overall soft-heart but strong in presence (at least that's how he seems), is Prince William of England. If he's how I see him in my head then I want my prince to be like him. That may seem like too obvious of a choice, but there's a reason so many women swoon over him. His public image is everything Cinderella's Prince Charming should be. Charitable and kind, romantic and loyal, strong and intelligent. Not too shabby to look at either, am I right? :) I don't mind that he's spoken for, because one day I'll find The One for me and he'll be all these things as well. MY perfect prince. 

I'm sure my girls will have their own picks of Favorite Prince, but they can tell you about them later in the week. First, I want to tell you about some fun reads that are prince related.

To make matters worse, Prince Charming has no designs on wearing a penguin suit and attending a stuffy old dinner. Shannon's three elderly aunts flit through her life in true Sleeping Beauty style with her well-being always a priority. And Edmund's sister Millicent descends like the Evil Queen she is, trying to extract Shannon from any claim on the Ridgeway family fortune. When a tornado moves through town and Shannon is knocked unconscious, will Daniel's kiss awaken her once and for all?

MY TAKE:

I love fairy tales - of all kinds - and you've probably figured that out by now. What can I say? There will always be the little girl inside who daydreams about the possibilities and romance. As an adult I find that not only do I still enjoy the romance and magic, but I appreciate the deeper, sometimes more allegorical aspects of the tales. Whether they're stories of caution, forgiveness, redemption, love - or all of the above. There is always a deeper story to be found underneath the fairies and magic mirrors.

Sandra D. Bricker caught my attention immediately with her latest Rise and Shine. How fun! A modern take on Sleeping Beauty! One of my favorite tales. Reading the back cover I wondered how she would balance such serious topics as coma, cancer and death with the upbeat and romantic side of the fairy tale. Would it be more depressing and not light hearted enough? Or would the coma and serious issues be glossed over too quickly to make way for the comedy and romance of a new relationship? Only way to find out was to give it try. Let's just say, she did an AMAZING job of balancing the story. I loved it! It was like finding that snack that's the perfect combo of salty and sweet.

Shannon is fun and quirky, but she also has a lot of memories and relationships to rebuild. Including her relationship with God. She struggles with her feelings of anger at losing her husband so soon and missing out on 10 years of her life, but like Job, God can bring new life to one that has been lost (Including a very sweet blood hound.)Discovering who she is now is an adventure.

I can't recommend this one enough. I loved it so much I went looking for what I soon discovered was book 1, If the Shoe Fits: A Contemporary Fairy Tale, a modern spin on Cinderella and Prince Charming. Just got it and can't wait to read it. You can get a free sample of If the Shoe Fits on Amazon.

While honing her chosen craft of screenwriting in every spare moment, she worked as a personal assistant and publicist to some of daytime television's hottest stars. MY TAKE:

There is a Troll that works in my local post office, who's recently become a book lover. I only know this because he's chosen to keep the books I've requested to review rather than have them delivered. I hope he's enjoying them. I also hope he learns a few lessons about love and sharing and decides to forward them on when he's done, because I'd really like to read Always the Designer, Never the Bride by Sandra D. Bricker. *sigh*

I waited until the last minute to post in hopes it would still come and I could at least start the book, but no such luck. In the mean time, here are the details. If you've read it, please let me know what you thought. If the Troll ever sends on my copy, I'll return the favor and post a full review.
