New hobby anyone?

Song Stuck on the Brain: You'll Always be My Baby by Mariah Carey/David Cook (love a hometown boy!)

So what's new with me? Nothing. I'm still reworking my ms Dysfunction Junction to resubmit to The Agent. I'm waiting on pins and needles for my critiques of Burning Justice from the Daphne contest and I'm conducting an interview Thursday for research on my next Work in Progress, Perilous Truth.

I did hear from an old critique partner today. Judith Mamay is published! You go, Girl! Her book, Knowing Joseph, is being released by Blooming Tree Press in hardback and is available for pre-order at BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com. I'm so proud to say I knew her when. I wish you all the success in the world, Judith!

Ah, I wish I had more exciting news than this, but sadly, I don't. I must make more of an effort to be exciting. :) It must be time to learn a new hobby. I'm not sure what it would be or when I would find time to do it, but I'm sure that it's time. I would like to learn to shoot. As in guns? I've always wanted to have Dad take me out to the firing range and teach me, but somehow we never got around to it and now he's not able. I think it would be fun, plus it would be fantastic research for my writing. I think it would be especially helpful in this current WIP. Off the top of my head, I'm drawing a blank on other ideas. I'll have to think about it.

Anyone have any ideas?
A.

Lyrically Endowed

Song Stuck on the Brain: The Birdie Song (Good Morning Song)

Way up in the sky, The little birds fly.
While down in the nest, The little birds rest.
With a wing on the left, And a wing on the right.
The little birds sleep, All through the night..
Sshhhhhhh! They’re sleeping!!
When the bright sun comes up, The dew falls away.
Good morning, good morning, The little birds say.
I open my eyes, I get out of bed,
I open my window and SMASH THAT BIRDS HEAD!

That last little verse is so demented. Some guy at junior high camp taught it to me and now I can't sing the song without adding it. The nieces and nephews like it too. It's their favorite part of the action song. They get to pound their fists on the last line.

Angel and I have a talent for spouting song lyrics at the drop of a hat - or word. (Some call it annoying, but really, it's much more a gift.) On a good day, when we're on a roll, we can sing a phrase for pretty much any sentence we hear. My oldest nephew is particularly frustrated by this. Especially when we pop up with the songs in unison. It interrupts his train of thought, and in stereo to boot.

We have kind of freaky twin like ESP thing, even though we're 11 years apart. It's uncanny how often we start singing outloud the song that the other has running through their head. Or finish each others thoughts - or just say them out loud together.

Anyway, when I saw this 44 Union cartoon, it made me think of Angel and I's wonder twin powers and I had to share it.

It's finally Friday (oh wait, I'll sing that too.) I'm so glad to see the weekend here. Have fun, ya'll.

Tuesday Backtrack

I owe you all a post for Tuesday, I got sidetracked and never posted. SO, take a little trip in my time machine and I'll jump back a day.

Phew! Now I'm dizzy. :)

Song Stuck on the Brain: Don't Fall In Love With a Dreamer by Kenny Rogers

Did you all see the article on Yahoo! about the strange symbol found in a 175 year old brick warehouse in Manhattan? They have all kinds of people studying it, but they can't quite figure out what the symbol signifies.

I think I have a pretty good guess, but what do you all think?

Look closely now....

Yep. It's a Go'auld mothership landing.

I think the SG-1 crew used the Ancient's time traveling puddle jumper to go back and leave us clues. You know the stargate wasn't uncovered until the 1920's, but think how things could have been if they'd had a head start on solving the puzzle?

Smile... Tuesday's coming

Song Stuck on the Brain: Wind it Up by Gwen Stefani

It's Monday... in every way. So to lighten the mood and put a smile on your face, here are a few funnies to tickle your funny bone.

This one just made me think of my dad and brother. They were always giving wet willies.

This one's just priceless. My niece used to complain about wearing underware when she was about 4. She claimed they gave her "tommy wedgies" (Atomic wedgies... the ultimate in wedgihood.)

Sure does feel that way, doesn't it?

I can completely sympathize here. I miss Heroes too. Not sure I'd resort to costumes, but when season 1 hits DVD, you can guarantee I'll be first in line to re-watch it straight through. Got to be prepared for season 2's premier.

Smile, Tuesday will be here soon.

Time flies...

Song Stuck on the Brain: It's a Small World After All...

Aack! The three day weekend just flew by on the gossamer and fleeting wings of time. I spent a good portion of it re-watching 4400 episodes to prepare for the season 4 premier on USA on June 17th. Season 1 and part of Season 2 are already watched. Man, I LOVE that show. It gets better every time I watch it.

I also managed to squeeze in some critiques for my writing buddies and post a new chap of my own. That wasn't so easy since I managed to sleep weird on my left shoulder and dislocated 3 ribs and my rotator cuff. It HURT! Made my arm darn near unusable, but like an idiot, I kept hoping it would just go away on its own. It didn't and the chiropracter was closed until this morning, so I had 5 days of this abominable pain. Now I'm adjusted but still VERY sore. Desk sitting and typing doesn't help much. However, I couldn't leave you without posting something since I've been a little lax lately.

Here are a few of the comics I've found very appropriate for my life lately. Enjoy!

I think there is a strong possibility this cartoon is based on a person of authority that I know.

The mental image this inspired had me nearly rolling on the floor.

I would't know about the car prices in '64, but filling up my gas tank has become the bane of my existence. Travel plans are nil because gas now takes up more than 50% of our travel budget. Road tripping is now available only to oil tycoons and zillionaires.

This is so close to home it almost not funny. I think if they really made this product, my family would own stock in it. Actually, maybe we just need to get the toilet paper rolling so to speak and do it on our own.

This is EXACTLY how I feel about fishing. I can't eat them and I hate hurting them, so why even do it? I'd much rather have them in my aquarium swimming happily in circles.

Turtle Power = Turtle Love

Song Stuck on the Brain: The Remedy by Jason Mraz

A writing buddy emailed me the following quiz for fun. I had to laugh when mine popped up. I watched the TMNT because of April the journalist. I thought it was so cool that this chick had my name. Up to that point, April was a rare name to hear. Still isn't super popular. Anyway, I wanted to be a writer too, so it was like seeing a future, fantasy me on TV. She even has red hair and mine's kind of red (at least it has been some shade of red for the last 11 years or so).

It's nice to know that when I die, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will miss me. :)

Cowabunga, Dude!

I'm so psyched over Stargate's return. Friday night was awesome, but now I can't hardly wait for NEXT Friday. So, to hold me over, I visited youtube.com for some clips. I found the TV spots for both series'. I love these. Mostly because....

With a little Stargate, Anything is possible...

Fun Stuff for a Rainy Day

I was visiting Narnia Web to check on release dates and such for Prince Caspian when I found these quizzes. I thought they were fun and decided to pass on my results and the links so you can take them too.

The Narnia Quiz:

As Prince Rilian, you are brave, noble and intelligent, but easily misguided! Just make sure you don't go after any green women.

Take the quiz yourself here:
http://www.jamiefrost.co.uk/narniaquiz/quiz.php?lang=

The Harry Potter Quiz:

Loyal and brave, as Harry Potter you may be have a hot temper at times, but you have a warm heart and a thirst to help those in need.

Take the quiz yourself here:
http://www.theharrypotterquiz.com/quiz.php

The Lord of the Rings Quiz:

You are Gandalf. Known as Gandalf the Grey as a result of his long grey robes and hat, Gandalf was the wise and powerful wizard who initiated the quest to destroy the Ring. After travelling with the Fellowship for much of the way, he fell in battle in the Mines of Moria where he encountered a Balrog... or so it seemed!

Take the quiz yourself here:
http://www.matthewbarr.co.uk/lotr/

Apparently, when it comes to Lord of the Rings, I'm a little Schizophrenic. Different quiz, different results. I was kind of hoping for Arwen, but no such luck...

You are most like Frodo. You're very friendly, and you have a great personality. Although you like to have fun, you can also be pretty serious at times. It's pretty hard to get you mad, but once you're mad...everybody better look out! Keep that temper under control and realize that you're better off than you may think.

Take the quiz yourself here:

Enjoy, and don't forget to tell me your results.

A.
